Who can do without a credit card these days? Useful for both small and big purchases, indispensable when travelling and safe thanks to the pin code. But next to this ease of payment, the BASE MasterCard has much more to offer. Paying with your BASE Mastercard instead of other cards, grants you free minutes.
For who?
The BASE Mastercard is a safe payment method that is available for prepaid as well as postpaid customers. Be advised that KPN/BASE deems it important to protect its customers from important debts, your request will only be accepted if you have a stable income and you have sufficient income to be able to reimburse the purchases made via your BASE Mastercard on a monthly basis.
The benefits
A BASE MasterCard is accepted all over the world. It may look like the card that is issued by your bank but it comes with a host of attractive extras which you will not find anywhere else:
Your BASE MasterCard is free
There is no charge for your card during the first year**. You will not be charged during the following years providing that you spend at least € 2,000 a year with your card. If you do not spend € 2,000 a year, then you will have to pay the annual € 15 fee for your BASE MasterCard.
You receive free minutes for BASE to BASE calls
For every purchase with your BASE MasterCard you will receive free minutes***, as long as the total amount of your purchases during the previous month was at least € 10. You can use the free minutes yourself or give them to a beneficiary by linking his or her BASE mobile phone number to your BASE MasterCard. You will also receive additional minutes for top-ups (prepaid) or when paying a postpaid invoice with your BASE MasterCard.

You will receive a text message for payments of over € 150
You will receive a text message to confirm any payment of over € 150 with your BASE MasterCard. It is a useful way of checking your purchases when distance buying via the Internet or by mail order. But above all, it is an in-built security: the text message will notify you of any purchases of over € 150 and thus of any abuse of your card.
You can customize your card
Order your card online and send us a photo of your choice or choose one from our gallery. We will send you a BASE MasterCard that is unmistakably yours. You only have to pay € 9.75, unless mentioned otherwise in scope of a campaign or promotion.
You will receive 60 minutes for BASE to BASE calls every year
If you extend your BASE MasterCard by one year, you (or your beneficiary) will receive sixty minutes free of charge. Just like that, irrespective of the amount that you spent with your BASE MasterCard.
You will receive 60 minutes on your birthday
Is it your birthday? Congratulations!
We will give you 60 minutes for BASE to BASE calls for free.
You will receive a discount in BASE stores
Pay with your MasterCard and enjoy a 20% discount on all mobile phone accessories and 10% discount on all mobile phones over € 100 (excl. Apple products).
You will also enjoy buyer's insurance and travel insurance
Anything you buy with your card is automatically insured for a 180-day period against theft, loss or damage. While travelling, you will have complementary insurance in case of an accident or illness and in case of flight delays and problems with your luggage thanks to your BASE MasterCard****.
You do not have to change bank
You can benefit from all of the advantages of your BASE MasterCard with your current bank and your existing account number. By no means do you have to change banks!
